What is the Big Bear Run?

The Big Bear Run is an annual community 5K race which serves as the core fundraiser for Menlo-Atherton High School’s athletic programs. The professionally-timed, fun-filled event gathers families, neighbors, friends, students, athletes and businesses together for the common goal of supporting M-A Athletics and is one of the community’s most beloved events.

It takes over $110,000 each year for the M-A Athletic Boosters to fund the basic needs of our teams which support over 900 committed student-athletes. This funding helps insure that our diverse high school student body benefits from an excellent education in and out of the classroom. In 2014, the Big Bear Run raised enough money to purchase $15,000 in uniforms, $25,000 in basic equipment and training supplies, and $70,000 in coaching stipends. Without this base line support, the continuity of these enriching athletic programs would be compromised as the financial need of our programs falls into the gap between basic state funding and the reality of our athletes’ promise.

This year, we anticipate well over 1,200 registered participants to join the fun as we celebrate our 10th Annual Big Bear Run on Sunday, May 3, 2015! Register today to reserve your spot!

We need you in the race!
